Job Description

Project Title: "Legal and Linguistic Support Project for the Turkish Cypriot community"

General description of the position:

  • S/he will support the project experts in coordination and collection of the past legal text in progress and in adoption from the translators, working group members of the departments”, EUCC and Translation Centre Unit at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  • S/he will provide support in extracting legal and technical terms to add to the glossary;
  • S/he will support the project experts in providing support to translators in putting together and uploading the “legislative” glossary and legal terminology collected/created;
  • She will also be responsible in supporting the project experts and the translators/interpreters in developing templates with glossary to be used for the legal drafting process before and after the completion of the project.

Expert category:

  • Cat. III (>3 years of experience);

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Relevant university degree (i.e. Linguistics, Translation, Interpretation or a relevant related field); a Master’s Degree in the directly related discipline will be an advantage;
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills, organisational and reporting skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure within complex institutional and organisational settings; o Full computer literacy;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken Turkish and English.

General professional experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in translation of legal documents; o Experience acquired at least in two different assignments in translation or interpretation in the Turkish Cypriot community.

Specific professional experience:

  • Experience acquired at least in three different assignments as a professional translator/interpreters with EU funded projects.

Language skills:

  • Excellent command of written and spoken Turkish and English.
